Change….is certain

As the hours of darkness makes us realize that the importance of light, I realized the importance of certain individuals in Taiwan. How much I had missed everyone cannot be put into words. Only the feeling of missing knows how much
I missed everyone. Its something like we don’t realize the value of people/things when they are with us but we will realize only after loosing. I missed memorable moments…I missed great company of everyone…..I missed Bangalore….
But time will never be the same…life goes on irrespective of whatever happens. As time changes life changes…..as life changes everything else changes….. Always we are bound to change. Only certain in this life is CHANGE.
Now the change has come after coming back to India…

[Taiwan Diary]: Taiwan English...

After hectic two weeks got sometime to sleep now! Last two weeks it’s been full of night outs. This time Taiwan trip turning out to be tougher.
I guess after coming here, my English is getting worst day by day. Its all bcoz of the way conversations happen here. Now I am gonna write you some of my conversations happened here.
One day it was around 10 O’Clock in the night client called and asked me about the release. The conversation started like this,
Client: Hi Rebecca speaking
Me: Hi
Client: when U release the application?
Me: 12th September
Client: 12 O Clock in night
Me: No
Client: When…When U release?
Me: I told U, we release…on September 12. Ok…. Date September 12.
Client: Ok..Ok…fine
Client: Thank you very much.

Talking over phone to Taiwani’s is very troublesome, very difficult to understand what they are telling and also very difficult to make them understand as well.
Once what happened, I went to client place, I went to Rebecca’s cabin, she was not at her seat. I looked around, some one told her about my arrival it seems, So she looked from other cabin and she told me, “ Hi Rebecca speaking !!!!”
She was so much used to talking over phone.

One more incident, it was experienced by the developer who came there in the last moment.
It was around 10 'O Clock in the night, one of our client called. I spoke to her then gave it to other colleague. They spoke for sometime, then client was telling something, she (colleague) didn't get what the client was telling, so she told her to mail it, so that she can reply to it...to our surprise we came to know that she was telling "Good night, see you tomorrow"...uff...its so difficult to understand!

Then once one client asked me. “What do you do for food?” I told, “I cook my food”. He replied, “Oh! You are a good Cooker then!!!”

[Taiwan Diary]: Airport Incidence

In BangKok airport while I was immersed in thoughts I saw a Mother asking her 5-6 years old daughter to go and enquire about flight information. She forced her to go and then she came, sat beside me. Her daughter was looking continuously at her mother, she was very much hesitant to go. But this mother was shouting at her to go and ask. I was thinking why this lady instead of herself enquiring doing like this.

Somehow child asked and came back. Mother asked her daughter, “what did you ask?” child replied something, then again she asked what did they tell?, kid replied, then she asked, “what did you understand ?” kid thought for few seconds and told, then that lady told, “this is how we supposed to ask question and get the answer”.

She was teaching her daughter about enquiring at that so early age itself!!!
Inspire others to learn something new….
Always take a new step to learn something new, Make this life a learning playground.

Cheers!

[My Insights]: Role Models...

In this modern era, having role models is a craze. Now the time has changed instead of Subhash Chandra Bose, Vivekananda, Visheswaraih, Gandhi…we have Tendulkar,Drawid,Amitabh Bachchan,Shahruk Khan,Amir Khan, teenage sensation Sania Mirza…the list goes on.
Easily others influence us. Now especially because of media. Movies have great impact on the people. Now I would like to share why one movie has great impact on me. It’s none other than “Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam”. I like this movie very much. Not just because of star cast comprises one of the beautiful women on the earth, its because of the lessons it teaches through out….
Early part of the movie, focus on the easy going hero, his flirt, boyish nature and the consequences lead to curb the plans of his future he had earlier…its learning music. He had to go back without fulfilling his ambition there.

Jhoot ko mein bardhash nahi kar saktha..(sorry if I am wrong..)
Then the second part is really awesome. Other hero, Ajay Devgan’s character is really heart touching. The discussion with his father, teaches us a lesson. When he takes the decision to take his wife to Italy , where her lover was there. Discussion goes something like this…his father says,”jisko thum ithana mohabbat karthe ho,usko khona chaahathe ho? Tumhaare baare mein kuch socho..” For that son replays,” mein usko bahuth pyar kartha hoon, har waqt usko kush dekhana chaahtha hoon, agar wo mere saath hOkar kush nahi tho, mein bhi kush nahi reh saktha, usi ki kushi meri kushi hai”

We will have role models in house itself, but we ignore them. We can learn patience and work management from Mother. She will be managing house so well during all circumstances, even though she might have not done any MBA!!!
Look for the role models who spend time with us. In one way or other they will be teaching lessons.

[Taiwan Diary] Girl Friend in Taiwan!!!

I never imagined I would be in this situation in Taiwan. It all started after I came here. She never leaves me, she is always after me. Making phone calls to me has become a big habit. She keeps calling from morning to night. In between calls, mails keep pouring in from her. For each and everything she turns to me. I don’t know whether I had come in her dream, but she had come in my dream many times! When I had come back to India for two weeks she missed me so much that, even I could have never imagine. She had even called this office in my absence to confirm my return. Talking to me has become part and parcel of her daily routine. If she doesn’t understand anything, she won’t leave me till I make her understand. If I couldn’t, no matter where I am, I had run to her place to convince. Sometime I had to run to her, just to ask what happened. Always she liked me to be with her. Sometimes for no reason makes me go to her place! If I promise her something even then she won’t believe till accomplish that. She wants to know what is happening daily. She wants update from me every now and then. Talks about all the happenings in her life and I will get you this, I will get you that, if you do this. Sometimes I think how can I? How is it possible? Still she won’t leave me. Even if I don’t keep her happy also, she is after me all the time. Some time even I enjoyed the time spent with her, it was nice but not always it was great. I want to come back to India, but this Girl Friend is standing in between India and me! She uttered today also she wants to continue further like this. How do I manage this Girl …She is none other than our Client Rebecca Ha…Ha…Ha…one who eats my head always, to get MMS work done. Fix this issue, that issue. This bug, that bug, this is not working, that is not working, when will you fix this, when will you fix that? asks me so many questions…she has become a nightmare!!

[My Insights]: Forgotten…..

When we see him we say “soooo cute……soooooo nice” we love him so much but we start forgetting him as we grow up. When we talk to him, we talk like he does but we dont do the same things that he does to enjoy the life. We know that he ignores what others think of him, only thing he knows is “He tries his best to get what he wants and he takes each and every success as great enjoyment”. We love to see him happy like that but we don’t follow him.
He has the power to enlighten the lives of many, bringing smiles on their faces. His every nature is liked by everyone but still we ignore following him!!!
At least we have to make our heart like his but we don’t.

We believe him so much that, we don’t trust anybody else more than him. We still don’t appreciate to imitate him. We don’t follow his rules as we worry that people might think “we are immature”.
“We know collection of small drops make a big ocean….”
“Being happy for small things make the whole Life Happy” that’s what he teaches us….we know this, but we still don’t implement it even after seeing him …!!! So strange…!!!
Who is this??? He is none other than the Child….Yes the child in Us….

Wakeup the sleeping child….
Our happiness guide….

Be like a Child to enjoy life to the fullest…………..

[Taiwan Diary]: EYE CLASH with Taiwan Girl!

I am gonna tell U now, one of my special experience in Taiwan …!!!
I was immersed in work when I got a phone call from the client to visit their place. Got ready in a hurry, and then started towards the bus stop. I took a bus till the MRT station.
In 3 minutes train arrived. It was overly crowded. So I didn't get any seat, I had to stand. Here usually most of the college going and school going girls travel by MRT. There were many girls in the train.
I noticed 3 girls sitting in front of me. I was thinking "what is waiting for me at client's place". Meanwhile I felt somebody is looking at me. I looked at the girls in front, and the girl in center just turned the other side. I guessed it was her looking at me.
2-3 stops went pass by; and the same thing happened. I was surprised at her behavior. I started thinking, "what is this girl, continuously staring at me, am I looking that smart?" I gave myself a pat on the back-in my thoughts!! Again couple of times, I felt she was looking at me. She was a beautiful girl with long straight hair with DOLL like face. She was a cute girl!
I was feeling happy inside. Whenever I tried looking at her, she turned the other side. I didn't get, why she was doing so. Eyes clash never happened.
I was running out of time, as my stop was just 2 stops away. When the next stop was approaching, I again felt that she was looking at me, so immediately I turned towards her, to my surprise; she didn't turn the other side this time! What surprised me more was the reason for her to look towards me. Actually she was looking at the display board signaling the stop, which was exactly behind me!!! Ha..ha..ha

[Taiwan Diary]: Small Kid's Cap… [A wonderful Thanks giving…]

How many and how often do we meet people who come in our life like a passing wind teach a lesson and go and leaving imperishable footprints in our heart…Hmmm… not many right?

I am going to write now about one of my memorable days in my life. One day we had gone to watch Window on China an extraordinary display of monuments and culture around the world and in particular China. It was simply wonderful.
After spending the whole day in Window on China ….we were coming out of it…Just by couple of seconds we missed the bus to go back office. It just passed in front of us. So again we went back inside to sit, as it was very cold outside and also we had another 30 minutes of time till the next bus arrived. Then after sometime my colleague noticed a kid's cap lying on the ground. I took it and asked her, should I go and give it to the girl….she said ok… there was a family which had gone outside just 2-3minutes back, so I took that cap and went outside…guessing it must be their kid's….as I approached their car… a little girl around 6-7 years of age was coming from one side of car to the other side…I gave her the cap….she didn't know what to tell, just smiled. I smiled back and then came back and sat in our place.

In the wall clock it was reading 18.25 so we started towards the bus stop, just when we were exiting from the door again the bus passed by the bus stop, there were no people in the bus stop, so the bus didn't stop. Again we missed the bus. We didn't want to take any risk so we just stood there waiting for the bus. It was shivering cold and dark(it used to get dark by 5.00 PM.)

The little girl's family was inside the car….they were waiting exactly in front of the exit door near the bus stop. Since we missed two buses. As my colleague had sweater there was no problem for her…. But I had come out without any jerkin….I was shivering and the cool wind was blowing badly to my face. She asked me to come for a walk around that place, I said no…as it was very cold, wind was strong and I was wearing half sleeve T-shirt. She was walking here and there as if in tension, I sat there with head down as if I lost everything…wishing if that family could give us a drop.

That car was still there; probably they were waiting for somebody. After sometime my colleague came running waving towards the approaching bus. We got into the bus and I showed the driver the address where we wanted to go (Taipei Domestic Airport). He told in their language, "this is not the bus". So we got down feeling bad.

Then after a minute that car started and it came near to us. A lady who was sitting in the front seat asked us something in Chinese language; we understood that, she was asking where were we going? We said Taipei domestic airport. Again she told something in Chinese, showing her hand towards seat, we understood that she is asking us to come with them. So we agreed to come along, we sat inside. There were 5 kids inside!!! One may be 4-5 months old, two around 1 year old, 2 girls of around 6-7 years!!! Then the car started, the lady was giving directions to her husband. The journey to Taipei Domestic Airport is very long about 1 and 1/2 hr, around 70 Kms from here. We started…..then in between I slept for sometime. After two hours we were no where near the Taipei airport. We started guessing that they have lost the route. I felt bad about all this as they were coming to the airport only to drop us. That lady was searching something, later found her mobile in one of the bag, called some 3 digit number… . noted down the numbers in another mobile. Called that number and then told her husband something. I guess first she called up help line to get Airport phone number then called airport for the address. We were not in a position to tell them anything, as she didn't know even a little bit of English. We called our office administrator and asked her to tell them to drop us here, so that we can take a taxi. She told them the same, but they were not willing to, they wanted to drop us to our office directly. But again they lost the way.

Meanwhile we tried talking to kids. One girl knew little bit English, she asked my name. I told her mine and then asked hers. She said Cathey. Then I asked her whether the lady in front was her mother. She said "no she is her sister and the other three kids in the car are her sister's kids". Then she asked about my colleague, I said "she is my colleague". She didn't understand. Then I wrote "office" on a paper. She got the meaning. Then I wrote "colleague"...She didn't understand, then I wrote "co-worker" she still didn't understand, then I wrote Engineer, still she didn't understand!!! Ooops …then I wrote Computer then engineer...Then office...Then something she understood. Then I asked where do you stay? She didn't understand, so I said "Place…Place…. your place"….she didn't understand…. Then I told "we stay in Taipei, where you stay…our place Taipei….your place?" didn't understand then we had to draw a picture of a house and asked "where?"…then she told some place, but we couldn't understand…….. :))….

The other small kid was sleeping …she got up…I guess she was 1 year old. The elder girl gave a her some chocolates to give us…that small kid stretched her hand and gave us some chocolates…she was so cute….like this she gave 3 chocolates!!! Then I gave her a Pen. I thought its better to give them something in return… ………… After sometime again we called our office administrator to tell them where to drop us….This happened 3-4 times. They tried their best. I was telling my colleague that I will give them a gift which I had bought. We were very grateful to them for all that they were doing for us. We called our office administrator to convey the same. The administrator spoke to the lady. The lady smiled back and spoke happily in their language. Later we came to know that actually she was feeling very bad that they couldn't drop us home…finally they stopped…. She gave us two mobile key chains as gift and said something in Chinese…..my colleague gave a cute baby doll as a gift to the lady. She was not willing to accept it…we forced her to take it…finally she took the doll. While coming out of the car…all were waving and bidding good bye. All of them were shouting "byeee…byeee….byeee…byeee………" as if they knew us since many years….I said to myself "so nice of them"…………… They came all the way and drove for nearly 40-50 kms just to drop us off. Even though they were not able to drop us home they took all the effort to come this far, which I'm sure was not in their home path…A wonderful and an overwhelming Thanks Giving indeed.

“HELP OTHERS TO HELP YOURSELF”

[Taiwan Diary]: Trash…

After coming here to Taiwan every now and then I have been getting impressed with Taiwan people. Here I am going to tell you yet another small incident, which made me, feel good again about people here.
You people must be heard about the corporation system in other countries. Here all the waste we have to give it to the vans comes around 9 'O Clock in the night. There are two vans, one for food, other normal waste materials and the other for recycling materials. We used to give once in 4-5 days. As usual that night I was working, we heard the sound of van went outside to give, but the already both the vans have gone past our office (+house). A couple from front apartment were standing outside, they told me in their language to go and give its still standing there. So I went till there by running when I was about to keep the trash bag inside, a person who was standing inside the van told me to give it to other van as this is for recycling materials. So I just went pass that van, by the time I pass this van other van went off. I couldn't give. I went till the main road, but couldn't find that van. So I came back. Those couple was still standing outside. Then when I was about to go inside he came towards our house with his scooter and asked me the trash bag to give (in their language), saying, "give me I will go and give that" I was bit hesitant, but he asked me again as if saying "no problem we will give that". So nice of them….
